Welcome to Rooted Hope Counseling

Hand in Field

Hi! I’m Shannon Newton, M.S., L.P.C-S.

I am committed to providing compassionate, professional therapy to support you on your healing journey.

Whether you are looking for individual counseling or want to join one of my specialized therapy groups, I provide a safe, nurturing space for you to navigate life's challenges.

My most recent group offered a supportive environment for chronically ill women to connect, share experiences, and heal together—with more groups starting soon!

I am state-licensed in both Arkansas and New Mexico, with a deep focus on serving my rapidly growing community here in Northwest Arkansas.

I invite you to reach out today, and let's take the next step together.

Individual Counseling

I utilize somatic- and body-based approaches and Emotionally Focused Therapy. If you're interested, please contact me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Group Therapy

Living with a chronic illness can be isolating. This online support group provides a safe and supportive space for women to connect with others who understand the unique challenges they face. Share your experiences, ask questions, and find encouragement from a community of peers.

Intensive Counseling

An intensive is doing therapy in a compressed schedule and meeting for several hours per day. This is a great way to jump-start your therapeutic process!

Licensed Supervision

I'm a board-approved supervisor for new therapists in the state of Arkansas.
I love my supervision group! We have become a really sweet and supportive community to each other. We meet usually on Friday mornings. Feel free to reach out to me if you are looking for a supervisor!

Our Services

You're Not Broken. You're Becoming.

"My clients are some of the most resilient and amazing people I know. I love walking alongside them and feel so honored to get to do this work. I primarily work with people who have experienced trauma or neglect at some point in their lives. I love getting to help clients as they become more of themselves and learn to love themselves. Every person has what they need inside them already. We all just need help and safety on the journey to find our true selves."  -- Shannon Newton

Shannon Newton, Trauma and Chronic Illness Counselor

Shannon Newton

Rooted Hope Counseling and Consulting was started in 2017 by Shannon Newton, an Licensed Professinal Counselor (LPC-S lic.# P1701214) in Northwest Arkansas. Shannon earned her master's degree from John Brown University in 2009 and has experience in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor therapy, and Somatic models of therapy. Shannon primarily works with people who have experienced some sort of trauma or neglect in their lives that has led to anxiety, depression, relational issues, addictions and other challenges. She has helped people of all backgrounds and experiences find that brokenness can lead to healing, growth, and resilience.

Shannon offers individual counseling for one-on-one support, and leads specialized group therapy for people with chronic illnesses, providing a supportive community for healing.

Shannon provides professional supervision for Licensed Associate Counselors (LAC's) to enhance their clinical skills and expertise.

In her downtime, you can find Shannon joyfully riding her e-bike (feels like being a kid again!)  getting lost in a good book, or exploring the great outdoors in the RV with her partner and their hilariously cranky elderly cat. As a caregiver for her husband, who faces ongoing disability and chronic health issues, she deeply understands the challenges of living with chronic health conditions.
